lastcow > USS BUFFALO (SSN 715) at Submarine Base Pearl Harbor. At one time the 100 foot tower to the left was filled with water and submariners would practice making simulated escapes from subs. It is no longer filled with water and serves as a VIP meeting or conference room. Just visable in front of the two new high rise barracks to the right is the "horse shoe" barracks (submarine barracks). It still has bullets holes in it from the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Photo by Roger Koopman.
