lastcow > Nay Aug near the pool.
lastcow > Magnolia. Magnolioideae of the family Magnoliaceae. It is an ancient genus (20 million years), having evolved before bees appeared as the flowers developed to attract beetles. It was named after the French botnist Pierre Magnol.
lastcow > I took this photo spring of 1972 in Washington, DC at one of the Vietnam War protests I attended. The "Vietnam War" touched everyone in those years. If you were male and 18, it was always on your mind. Most of my friend and I were not anti-USA, just against the war. The Vietnam War cost the United States 58,000 lives and 350,000 casualties. It also resulted in between one and two million Vietnamese deaths.
lastcow > Old "Sheldon Church". The beautiful remains of a 260 year old church just outside of Yemasee (pronounced, yem a see), South Carolina -- as in "Beautiful Beaufort by the sea 26 miles from Yemasee". Photo © L. J. Laskowski, 2004
lastcow > Charleston Harbor. "Where the Ashley and Cooper rivers come together to form the Atlantic Ocean". This was taken on July 4, 2003 from Fort Johnson.
lastcow > Christmas on the Battery (pronounced batt' tree). One of many beautiful homes along the Battery dressed up for Christmas. Almost all of the homes are National Historic buildings.
lastcow > A photo of the new bridge from my friend Mick. He writes: "Those of you who have been to Charleston are all too familiar with the "old bridges" across the Cooper River. Thought you might like to see what the new one looks like so you know what to expect when you visit with us the next time. The photo was taken by a neighbor in the Air Force during a recent trip. Where are the old bridges? For the time being, they are
actually BENEATH the new bridge! Yes, the new bridge is a big'un!!! When the new bridge is complete (by this Summer!), the old bridges are programmed be removed, towed out to sea, and sunk to make artificial reefs.
